The Cubs signed free agent left-hander Jonathan Sanchez to a minor league deal, according to a source.

The deal is said to include incentives if he makes the major league roster.

There was a report earlier this week that Sanchez was drawing free agent interest from seven or eight teams, but none of them apparently wanted to offer him a guaranteed major league contract. He will be fighting for a bullpen job in Cubs camp next spring.

Sanchez, 31, posted an 11.85 ERA in four starts and one relief appearance this past season for the Pirates.

He had an 8.07 ERA in 64 2/3 innings with the Royals and Rockies in 2012.
